Gary Parsons comes to the Bucks after spending 28 years as Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer team at Oakland University. During his tenure with the Grizzlies, Parsons amassed 363 all-time victories, 17 NCAA Tournament berths , 7 Summit League Championships, 3 National Runner-Ups, 3 Summit League Coach of the Year Awards, and 27 winning seasons. Additionally, he is the Summit League’s All-Time winningest coach. Before joining the Grizzlies, Parsons spent four years as an assistant coach at UW-Milwaukee and Eastern Illinois University.
As a player, Parsons was voted Defensive MVP at Plymouth State College (MA) his senior season and helped the Panters to the New England State College Athletic Conference finals in his last two years. He was recently honored by Plymouth State when it named him to their Hall of Fame. Parsons holds Bachelor’s degrees in math and physical education from Plymouth State (’73) and earned a Master’s degree in physical education from Eastern Illinois University (’79).
A native of Oakham, Massachussetts, Parsons also serves on the staff of the USYSA Region II Olympic Development program. He is a holder of a United States Soccer Federation ’A’ License. He resides in Auburn Hills, Mich., with his wife Wenli, and son Yang Kai Yuan.
