Operations Internship

The Operations internship can be done for credit or just for experience in the sports field. Operations interns will be expected to work all Bucks home events.  Interns will assist Bucks staff in matchday preparation and may work in varying roles from day-to-day. Roles may include:

Media Relations Internship

Michigan Bucks Communications Department is looking for motivated, organized college students with strong writing backgrounds for this internship. This is a fantastic opportunity for those candidates who are interested in breaking into the Sports Communications field.

Working hours during the week are flexible but candidates are required to work all Michigan Bucks regular season and playoff (if applicable) home games. College credit for this position is required.

Major Responsibilities:
 
  •  Writing Press Releases notifying the media and the general public of Michigan Bucks news, community events, initiatives, player transactions, etc.
  • Playing a key role in producing Michigan Bucks publications
  •  Writing stories for buckssoccer.com and weekly publications
  • Compiling weekly press clippings
  • Facilitating interviews with players and coaches
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations on game days

Marketing Internship

The Michigan Bucks Marketing Internship is a comprehensive program designed to provide students a “real life” work experience with a top class sports organization. Our interns are given a great deal of responsibility while covering a wide variety of the Michigan Bucks business. College credit is available per the college’s requirements.

 Major Responsibilities:
  •  Intern will be highly involved in many of the teams marketing initiatives and given a great deal of responsibility. Sample projects include; event planning, involvement in the team’s community relations programming and grassroots marketing initiatives.
  •  Interns will participate in off-site appearances and street team activities. Interns will spend on average of two days per week outside of the office at appearances with acting as the street team and occasionally accompanying our players.
  •  Each intern is expected to be available to work all home games. Responsibilities may include helping out at the box office, running game-day surveys, staffing a sales or marketing table, managing the Interactive Zone and ball kids, visiting clients at their seats, or helping with pre-game, halftime or post-game activities.

Working hours during the week are flexible but candidates are required to work all Michigan Bucks regular season and playoff (if applicable) home games. Interns must be available on some nights and weekends.

Soccer Business Development Internship

The Michigan Bucks Soccer Business Development Internship is a comprehensive program designed to provide students a “real life” work experience with a professional sports organization. Our interns are given a great deal of responsibility while covering a wide variety of the Michigan Bucks business. College credit is available per the college’s requirements.

Position Description
  • Assist the President of Business Operations in overseeing all events at Ultimate Soccer Arenas
  • Manage and administrate the Michigan Bucks soccer camp business
  • On-site customer relations - dealing with soccer parents, players, and coaches
  • Communication with clients including pre and post reports of the events hosted
  • Assist soccer complex coordinators in regulating events, tournaments, and league play on the complex.
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the complex.
  • Creates and maintains database and spreadsheet files.
  • Clerical duties including but not limited to, filing documents, data entry, correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve potential problems. Participate in site visits.

    Job Requirements:
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning skills and ability to prioritize
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be a self starter who is willing to help out wherever needed.
  • A working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, as well as previous database input experience is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and friendly demeanor

Ticket Sales Internship

The Ticket Sales Intern will support the sales department in ticket sales programs and events, make outbound phone calls to potential and existing clients, and assist with the game day activities while gaining an understanding of the sales process in professional sports. Hours can range from 20-30 hours per week, in addition to working games and special events. Interns MUST be able to work weekends and have a reliable source of transportation.

Responsibilities and Functions:

  • 40% Assist sales effort via cold and warm calls to past buyers
  • 30% Assist sales staff with Game Day Operations (client entertainment, on-field operations, etc.)
  • 15% Assist sales staff with in-office duties (mailers, data entry, etc.)
  • 15% Assist with off-site events (tournaments, player appearances, clinics, etc.)

Job Knowledge/Skill/Ability:

  • Excellent writing, telephone, and inter-personal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet use
  • Familiarity with basic rules of customer service and ability to interact professionally with fans
Qualification Standards:
  • Experience: Knowledge of and/or enthusiasm for soccer, the Michigan Bucks, and professional sports a plus
  • Must be available to work all Michigan Bucks regular season home games and Michigan Bucks sponsored events

Pay rate: Commission Based - Will receive college credit
