BUCKS BOW OUT IN OVERTIME
Late goal pushes Kalamazoo to the next round of PDL playoffs

Pontiac, MI (July 26, 2008) - The top seed in the Premier Development League (PDL) took its toll again as an upset victim in Conference playoffs.  The Bucks conceded a goal in the 86th minute to the Kalamazoo Outrage to bring the game level at 1-1 and force overtime in the Central Conference tournament at Ultimate Soccer Arenas.  From there Michigan would give up an overtime goal and a final mop up tally in the 120th minute to lose 3-1.  The Bucks struck first in the 31st minute on a nice goal by Doug DeMartin (Mason, MSU) off a pass from Billy Weaver (Lake Orion, Indiana University).  The Bucks would be dealt a double dose of injury woe in the seventh minute, when leading scorer Kenny Uzoigwe (Toledo) reinjured his hamstring and was forced to leave the game.  With dynamic duo partner Nate Jafta already out for the season with a groin injury, the Bucks would need to press on without two of the PDL’s top players.  DeMartin and Jake Stacy (Grand Rapids, University of Michigan) filled the void nicely and continuously pounded the ball at the Outrage defense, but to no avail.

The Bucks dominated the second half of play but couldn’t find the second goal to put the game on ice.  In the 86th minute after what seemed to be a harmless foul from the touch line, midfielder Eric Alexander whipped in a free kick that was headed in by second half sub Tom Oatley to knot the score at 1-1 with only minutes left to play.  The Bucks had three more golden opportunities to win the game in regulation, but shots by Stacy, DeMartin and Dave Hertel all sailed wide of the target.   The Bucks came out flying in overtime but could not break the seal again and were victimized by a Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo moves on to face the #2 seed Thunder Bay Chill, who overcame two red carded players to score two second half goals and defeat the Cleveland Internationals 2-0 earlier on Saturday.  The Outrage and Chill will meet for the Central Conference championship at Ultimate Soccer Arenas on Sunday (7:00 kick off). counterattack in the 98th minute when Outrage forward Lance Muckey put his side ahead 2-1.  The Bucks would take six more shots on goal during the second overtime stanza but were denied with each attempt.  With the home team pushing up on the final corner of the game and Bucks keeper Steve Clark leaving his net, the Outrage were able to score again, with Tom Oatley tallying his second of the night.
