Bucks suffer defeat to Fire 3-0
BUCKS LOOK TO REGROUP FOR STRETCH RUN
Three games in ten days should determine playoff fate
Pontiac, MI (June 30, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks enter the final three weeks of the 2009 season sitting in a very unusual situation. The 2008 Premier Development League (PDL) Regular Season Champions have their backs to the walls after only coming away with one point in the past two games to position them in a third place tie with the Chicago Fire for the final playoff spot.
Ironically enough, the Bucks travel to play the Fire on Wednesday, July 1 at Toyota Park and then return to Pontiac for the home rematch when the Fire come to play at Ultimate Soccer Arenas on Saturday, July 11 in the Bucks final regular season home match. Sandwiched in between the two Chicago games is a difficult road trip to Cleveland on Wednesday, July 8.
BUCKS AND KINGS PLAY TO INSPIRED 0-0 TIE
All attention now to Thursday’s home match against undefeated London
Cincinnati, OH (June 21, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks and Cincinnati Kings played to an exciting scoreless draw on Saturday evening in very difficult conditions with the temperature hovering around 95 degrees at kickoff.
Playing on the road is never easy in the Premier Development League’s Great Lakes Division, and the Bucks struggled the entire first half in getting into any kind of rhythm. The young Kings team created several chances in the first half, including four corner kicks that forced Bucks goalkeeper Steve Clark into several great saves to register his fourth shut out of the season.
BUCKS DOMINATE AND DEFEAT FT. WAYNE 2-1
Uzoigwe bicycle kick goal proves to be game winner
Pontiac, MI (June 19, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks put on another offensive display on Thursday night at Ultimate Soccer Arenas but only could capitalize twice in a huge 2-1 win over the Ft. Wayne Fever. For the second game in a row, the Bucks came out flying and pushed from the opening kickoff. A second minute corner kick proved to be the first great scoring chance when Julian Robles (Los Angeles, CA/ Michigan) headed Mauro Fuzetti’s (Houston, TX/ Michigan) corner kick off the cross bar. The Bucks constant pressure would lead to the games first goal in the 21st minute when Jake Stacy (Grand Rapids, MI/ Michigan) drilled a right footed shot from 22 yards out past Fever goal keeper Phil Boerger. Stacy’s second goal of the year came on a great pass from Piotr Nowak (Sterling Hts., MI/ Oakland).
BUCKS TAKE CLEVELAND IN DRAMATIC FASION
Gore gets game winner in final minute
PONTIAC, MI -- The Michigan Bucks entertained a vibrant crowd at Ultimate Soccer Arenas on Saturday night and gave them their money’s worth when Bucks first year forward T.J. Gore (Macomb, MI/Vermont) scored in the final minute of stoppage time to give the side a much needed 3-2 win over the Cleveland Internationals.
Gore slammed home the first goal of his career from close range off a nice set up from another of coach Dan Fitzgerald’s second half substitutions, Andy Stadler (Wauwatosa, WI/George Washington University) to move the team into second place in the PDL’s Great Lakes Division with a record of 5-2-1 (16 points) at the half way point of the sixteen game season.
BUCKS LOOK TO REBOUND AGAINST CLEVELAND
First match of the season against the Internationals
Pontiac, MI (June 12, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday night when they host the Cleveland Internationals for the only time this season at Ultimate Soccer Arenas (7:30 kickoff). The Bucks (4-2-1. 13 points) will be rebounding from their loss last Sunday at Kalamazoo in hopes of stringing together several wins to get back on top of the United Soccer League’s (USL) Premier Development League Great Lakes Division.
BUCKS WIN STREAK ENDS AT FOUR IN KALAMAZOO
Defense allows three first half goals in loss
Kalamazoo, MI (June 7, 2009)- The Michigan Bucks started Sunday’s game in the offensive mode, took the opening kick off down the field, gained a corner kick in the first minute and put the first shot on goal off the crossbar. Unfortunately, that would be the extent of the Bucks offense until the damage was done. The Kalamazoo Outrage moved into first place in the Great Lakes Division with the 3-1 win at home on Sunday afternoon by scoring three first half goals, two by former Bucks player Luke Norman. The Outrage found all kinds of unmarked space in the Michigan defense and converted on their first three shots of the game, all decent finishes that left goal keeper Steve Clark with no chance on any of them.
BUCKS IN FIRST PLACE WITH FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN
Season sweep of the Invaders ties Chicago in the Great Lakes Division

Pontiac, MI (June 5, 2009)- The Michigan Bucks continued their winning ways on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over the Indiana Invaders at Ultimate Soccer Arenas. The win moves the Bucks (4-1-1, 13 points) into a tie for first place in the Great Lakes Division with the Chicago Fire Premier, at least for the moment. This weekend’s division matches will have a lot to say in determining who stays in control of what is referred by many as the USL’s most difficult division.
STACY NAMED TO PDL TEAM OF THE WEEK
$5 tickets to game with donation to USSF Passback
Pontiac, MI (June 3, 2009)- Michigan Bucks winger Jake Stacy became the second Bucks’ player to be named to the United Soccer League’s (USL) PDL Team of the Week for the 2009 season today for his offensive output in Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Toronto Lynx. Stacy (Grand Rapids, MI/ Michigan), one of the leaders of the University of Michigan men’s team the past two seasons, scored a goal and added an assist earlier this week to lead the Bucks to their third straight shut out win. After a slower than expected start to the season in the finishing third of the field, Stacy expects the current pace to continue.
BUCKS CONTINUE WINNING WAYS WITH THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT
2-0 win over Toronto Lynx helps gain momentum

Pontiac, MI (May 31, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks moved their season record to 3-1-1 on Sunday with their third consecutive shutout win when they blanked the Toronto Lynx at Ultimate Soccer Arenas. The Bucks had the better of the possession and chances in the fast paced first half, but could not get anything past Lynx Brandon Heembrock, who made seven saves in the opening 45 minutes of play. Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, Bucks goal keeper Steve Clark made four saves in each half to register his third clean sheet of the season. Clark made two spectacular saves in the first half to keep the score level but really stepped up late in the game to insure the home team victory.
FAMILIAR FACES RETURN TO BUCKS THIS SUNDAY
Discounted Tickets to all fans in Bucks or Wings gear
Pontiac, MI (May 29, 2009) - For those Michigan Bucks fans of the past 14 seasons who come to see the Bucks play Toronto on Sunday night, it may look like a family reunion. Fans that come dressed in Michigan Bucks or Detroit Red Wing attire, will receive tickets for prices dating back as old as some of the players. Returning to the Bucks lineup this Sunday will be crowd favorite defender Kyle Russell (S. Elgin, IL/Coastal Carolina), who helped lead the Bucks defense the past two seasons to a National Championship runner up and last year’s PDL Regular Season Championship.
ROBLES CHOSEN TO PDL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Bucks go for three straight at home on Sunday against Toronto
Pontiac, MI (May 28, 2009) - The United Soccer League (USL) announced the Premier Development League (PDL) team of the week and Julian Robles (Los Angeles/University of Michigan; right) gathers the first honors of 2009 for the Michigan Bucks. Robles normally anchors the Bucks back line along with veteran Kevin Taylor, but last week decided to show his offensive prowess as well. In addition to helping shut out Cincinnati (3-0) and Indiana (1-0), Robles also scored two goals in the win over the Kings with a beautiful header from a corner kick and a breakaway goal that sealed the game. The talented 6-1 Michigan senior is always happy to score goals, but fully understands his role with the Bucks this summer.
BUCKS SHUT OUT INDIANA FOR SECOND WIN
Taylor PK is the difference

SOUTH BEND, IN (May 25, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks survived a physical battle on Memorial Day to finish with a 1-0 win over the Indiana Invaders in South Bend to give them two shutout victories on the weekend. Following Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cincinnati at the Canton Cup, the Bucks capitalized on a first half penalty kick from captain Kevin Taylor (right) as the difference in a game that featured more than a half dozen yellow cards and two red cards to the home side.
BUCKS STRAIGHTEN THE COURSE WITH 3-0 WIN
Fuzetti, Robles lead team to first win of the season

CANTON, MI (May 23, 2009) - Two University of Michigan stars, Mauro Fuzetti (Houston, TX) and Julian Robles (Los Angeles, CA) led the Michigan Bucks by heading home goals in the first half to lead the side to a 3-0 win over the Cincinnati Kings as part of the Canton Cup Soccer Tournament on Saturday. The Bucks (1-1-1) evened their record with the shutout win and hopefully started a run of consistent play from the combination of newcomers and veterans.
BUCKS DROP OPEN CUP OPPORTUNITY IN FT. WAYNE
2-1 loss leads to team’s worst start since '96
The 2009 version of the Michigan Bucks Premier Development League (PDL) team looks brilliant on paper, but the side has yet to begin clicking where on the field after losing 2-1 away to Fort Wayne Wednesday night. For the second consecutive game this season, the Bucks have dominated possession and attacking play but have yet to come away with a win.
BUCKS/OUTRAGE FINISH DEADLOCKED
Michigan looks to regroup Wednesday night

PONTIAC, MI (May 16, 2009) - A 1-1 draw was not the way the Michigan Bucks wanted to start their 2009 USL Premier Development League campaign, but it’s the result they ended up with Saturday night against the Kalamazoo Outrage. Despite dominating possession throughout the match, recording 22 shots along the way, the Bucks couldn’t get a second goal past former goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt in the game which doubled as a qualifier for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
BUCKS ADD MLS EXPERIENCE TO 2009 ROSTER
Fitzgerald looking for leadership from veteran players

Pontiac, MI (May 13, 2009) - The Michigan Bucks have announced part of their 2009 starting roster today and fans will see some familiar faces in Pontiac this year. The club has decided to add veteran talent to their normal crop of young college superstars this year to build on last year’s PDL regular season championship record of 13-1-2. One would think that with only one defeat in 2009, there wouldn’t be much to tinker with, but the Bucks front office was busy in the offseason creating a positive mix of youth and veteran players to open the 2009 season.
